The municipal public libraries have been established in a joint effort between ASSABIL and the Municipality of Beirut with the generous support of the Regional Council of Ile de France and numerous other supporters.

ASSABIL has been commissioned by the Municipality of Beirut to manage and operate the municipal public libraries in the neighborhoods of Bachoura (since 2000), Geitawi (since 2004) and Monnot (since 2008). In the coming years, ASSABIL and the Municipality of Beirut are planning to add an additional 9 libraries throughout the city to this existing network.
